It is time that we need to unite as one�no EB1 or EB2 or EB3. This is our last real chance in a long time to come to address our BIGGEST issue. The Full House Judiciary Committee will do a Mark-Up of EB Visa Recapture Bill and Nursing Relief Bill on 09/10/2008 10:15 a.m. We need to call ALL these members listed below and ask them to support. Please write in your responses with how many reps you have been able to call. We need to keep this thread on top. The information provided below has been taken from the Administrators post about the HR5882.

This bill recaptures all the unused visa numbers that have been lost since 1992 due to processing delays in Employment based category and Family category. This bill has PASSED the Sub Committee and is in its next phase. After it passes here it will to the full house
Please use the instructions provided below to make the phone calls.
(1) Call the congressman/woman office and request to speak with the aide who handles Legislative and Immigration matters
2) If they are not available leave a VM for them -
"I would like Representative "Representative Name" to support HR 5882, bill to recapture the green cards lost due to processing and bureaucratic delays. As you may already know that this is a bi-partisan bill with wide bipartisan support in the house and will help improve American competitiveness & reduce the back logs associated with USCIS. This bill is non controversial measures that will help US to stay competitive with a highly educated and skilled work force and address family based backlogs also.
To All congress-critters:
In a nutshell, this bill allows USCIS to manage their workflow more effectively, which provides better customer service, and will eventually lead to better turn-around times.
To Democrats: More people will be able to get their citizenship in reasonable times.
To Republicans: Companies will be able to attract more talent which improves economic performance."
(3) As usual Do NOT get into the CIR issue or illegal Immigration. If the aide is confusing with CIR or illegal immigration, just tell them that these are legal immigration bills.
(4) If the aide asks whether you belong to the district or not, tell them NO if you don't. Mention to them that you already spoke with your representative and would like the congressman/congresswoman
support.

I am not being pessimistic; this is just my opinion about CIR: I don't have high hopes for CIR when it comes to EB immigration.
Every article that I read about CIR mentions issues related to undocumented workers/residents/aliens and border security. These are high priority issues within immigration reform domain. Legal immigration (family & employment) are secondary and in this segment Family based immigration gets precedence due to large number of immigrants from Latin America has larger vote.
I think issue of H1B visa will be at a higher priority as larger population of US is aware of this category so it has more political value and of course thanks to Sen. Grassley.
That puts Legal Skilled workers' issues related to immigration (GC) at the bottom of the pile. Not that other issues are non-important but since this issue has least priority we at IV need to emphasize more and explain the dire need for relief for those who are waiting for long time.
Bottom Line: Immigration is multi-issue agenda, IV needs to assign separate teams for these issues so even if CIR doesn't go through we at least will have success at fixing some of the issues.

I wonder with so many layoffs in US, how much support will H-1B quota increase lobbying group get from the congress?
I think H-1B quote increase issue might be on back-burner for now and most likely they will concentrate on getting comprehensive immigration reform bill passed by middle of next year.

We're in a unique situation. My wife and I married in India and didn't register our marriage; we're now citizens of country X. To get our marriage (and birth) certificate, we went to the local Indian consulate, which provides these services. But we were told that, since we're no longer Indian citizens, we should go to X's consulate. Is there a way we can get the certificates? How about registering our marriage in the US?
For BC, our parents sent us the affidavits and we were thinking to get a certificate of BC's non-availability through . Is there a quicker solution?

I know the Forums are still pretty active but is the IV Organisation itself still active?
I came across the IV website yesterday and was really stuck by the mission statement of the Organisation. I did not think twice - went ahead and got registered and made one time donation. I even voted for one of the polls for Sep 18 rally and making plans to visit DC but only to realise today that it was really old one :) Also when I was reviewing the forums today I realised that most of the activities seem to be around years 2006-2007 - like Fundraising Campaign or Media News ,etc.
Appreciate anyones response to let me know if IC is still active. Please do not direct any personal attacks. I did not need to explore GC info so far since my GC was started only during March of 2010 & got my Lc approved only yesterday.
If the organisation is still active, I am looking forward to joing the CT chapter. Thanks!

AILA members have been receiving denials based on the USCIS's use of information found on Wikipedia, an online encyclopedia to which anyone in the world may contribute information. As such, it should not be considered an objective or completely reliable source of information. SCOPS advised that it has notified the service centers and there should not be additional RFEs or denials based upon Wikipedia.
It should be noted that, as a corollary, applicants and petitioners should not try to use Wikipedia as support for their filings or arguments, since it has been deemed an unreliable source.
