Hi,
I am a resident of the Chennai Consular District and I made an emergency appointment (returning US worker-H visa) for my H-1 renewal visa at New Delhi through the vfs website. I was not able to find any appointments at the Chennai consulate. I happened to know today through the New Delhi Embassy website that their emergency appointments are reserved only for residents of the New Delhi Consular District. I'm confused as to how/why the vfs website allowed me to make an appointment without providing this information. I am now unable to find any regular appointments available at New Delhi or emergency appointments at Chennai.
Also, the vfs website has a news update from Dec.4th stating that anyone (fluent in english) can now apply at New Delhi, Chennai or Mumbai. I do not know if this precludes the emergency appointment requirement at New Delhi as stated above or if this is a more up to date info.
If anyone here has any information/experience about this, I would appreciate a response.

Check with your attorney , But I 'm quiet sure that to to port the date your first 140 need to be approved. Since it is denied (although it is lawyer's mistake) you are out of luck.

Go ahead and apply, as long as you get the receipt before expiry date on her I-94, you should be fine. You will have to be ready for her return to India ASAP if her extension petition is denied, as she might start incurring illegal stay, which might create hindrance for her next visit or her next VISA application.
It would be a good idea to state about her anticipated visit to other states etc. instead of other reason.
It is likely that she might get RFE, but it should all be answerable.

I applied for my I-140/485 together in the last week of June. I havent got the receipt numbers yet. My wife is on H1 and since she is not the primary application on my 485 forms, is it okay if she changes her job. Will her H1 transfer affect both of our applications.

This is relevant question and I feel that if recession hits US, consultancy companies may ask people go and work offshore till situation gets better. Most of big consultancy firms have projects from non-US countries so they may utilize people offshore.

I joined a new employer in May and also had applied for H1B transfer at that time. Now I have a very good offer from another firm but my first H1B transfer is still pending. The new offer is much more rewarding financially. Is it possible to apply for H1 B transfer to the new employer without jeopardizing my H1B status. Please note that I got laid off in April and I was in a hurry to get the new job then, it was also about just over a month when I applied for my H1B transfer since losing that job so I am kind of nervous about the results from USCIS.

USCIS has recently published a new fact sheet of common questions and answers for members of the U.S. Armed Forces and their families. The fact sheet is worth reading if you are in the Armed Forces because the answers to some of the questions are different (and usually more advantageous) to members and/or dependents of those in the Armed Forces. For instance, if you are a civilian, obtained your green card through a marriage to a U.S. Citizen and you have been married for less than two years, you must file Form I-751, Petition to Remove Conditions on Residence (http://www.uscis.gov/portal/site/uscis/menuitem.5af9bb95919f35e66f614176543f6d1a/?vgnextoid=f858d59cb7a5d010VgnVCM10000048f3d6a1RCR D&vgnextchannel=db029c7755cb9010VgnVCM10000045f3d6a1 RCRD) to remove the conditional residence and obtain your permanent green card. My PD is 2006 under EB-2 category. My family and I filed for GC on the same day. Now, I am planning to file a new I-140 under EB1. My kid is going to be 18 soon. What is the age limit for dependent to file for GC with the parents?

While my camera performed better than I expected from a late-90's era 2.7MP DSLR, I didn't fare so well, coming home with far fewer "keepers" than I would have liked. My greatest problem was that I either didn't set up a tripod or failed to increase the ISO to get more DOF in many landscape shots that needed it, and frequently I also got motion blur from lack of tripod usage. This experience has taught me that for me personally, even though the D1 is 2 stops faster than Velvia, I still must slow down and use a tripod - not only to prevent blur and enable slower exposures, but also to force a slower and more thoughtful pace of composition.

Hello everyone, i have a good news to share that i just checked my case and it shows "Card production ordered". I guess it means my 485 has been approved.

Well, i do have a question regarding my wife 485 case which i just filed this month (July 1st) as my case is current from July 1st. I filed my 485 before i got married, and now it is time and i filed on July 1st, and not received any receipt number from USCIS for my 485 case.
As per my lawyer, there is no worries as we filed on time, and your case is approved just today, means, they should process your wife case when time comes. May be another 4 or 6 months. As long as her case is processed without any issue, then it is fine.
I would like to hear from you guys that if anyone has got this kind of case and any inputs from you guys would be really appreciated.

Your lawyer is right. I was in the same situation. For employement based GCs you can file dependents case upto 180 days from approval. Check law 245(K)

I am on H4 visa and my husband is on H1 visa. My husband is working in N.Y. city as a programmer analyst.
I am pregnant by 5 months. I have following questions :-
- Can I apply for Medicare benefits. By applying Medicare benefits I will get free milk,baby food and medical treatments.
- By applying Medicare does it affects my husband green card process or in future citizenship.

I am not sure about the Green Card and Citizenship is required... but to get the Medicare Benifits your Anual income should not exceed by certain amount which is set by State Department...check that.
