This is not at all a bad idea. Indeed very good one and also easy to send it through Amazon.

Its just a thought,, maybe every IV member should buy this book and send it to their senator as a holiday gift..I am sure that most of these guys will not read it..but even 50% read or their staff read it, it will make an impact..

I am currently living in the US on H4. I will be getting my H1 approval in a couple of weeks.
What will be my status till Oct 1st from the day my H1 is approved?

When I went for H1B stamping my B1 was cancelled and I was told one can not have more than one visa at the same time.
I had L1 stamped first and then B1 and both for the same company. Because the company was same in both these cases, thats why there doesnt seem to reason for cancelling my B1. But this time, i am going for H1 stamping from some another company. It is sure that my L1 will get cancelled(because this is company specific visa) but have a doubt about B1.
Is there any way/process that i can have B1(which i got from existing company) and H1(from new company) at the same time.

difficult to classify which company are good or bad, based on each one experience or interest they may like or may not like the company. some struck in a company due to retrogression too. if you are planning to switch company, decide based on your interest/family situation and see whether your future job can give you those. get help from your friends/jobsites like dice.com/monster.com/careerbuilder.com/hotjobs.com to see the job oppurtunities.....good luck.

Either the VO that took your case wasn't well versed with the law or made a mistake.

SR can be opened by company HR or lawyer if the service center processing time exceeds your receipt date by more than 30 days.
As sunny said, when NSC moves their processing time to more than 21st Jan 2007 ( I assume ur RD is 21st DEC and EB3)...your lawyer can call the normal 1800...number and raise a SR.
it's a simple process and lawyer should be knowing how to handle this.
I see people getting decisions within 30-45 days after SR.

Consular processing itself will happen when date is currentl. However, there is a form that your friend can fill out (which basically moves I 140 from USCIS to another agency which I think is called National visa/benefit center, which in turn sends it to consular post once the date is current.
In other words, your friend will have to get out of 485 line and ask for I 140 to be put in another line (for consular processing) and wait for PD to become current.
During this entire time, the prospective employer should have empty position for the candidate and good faith intention to hire him permanently once he gets is GC. Also, they may send RFE to employer to explain how will he manage for next several years before your friend can join the firm. As long as prospective employer answers all these to their satisfaction, your friend can still get his GC once his PD becomes current (via consular processing).
In other words, your friend will have to get out of 485 line and ask for I 140 to be put in another line (for consular processing) and wait for PD to become current.

Applying for 485 does not affect your H1/H4 status, as these visas are dual intent.
If your H1 is approved, your H4 status will cease to exist from the date of H1 validity (I'm guessing, Oct 1st for you). So, officially from that date, you are on H1.
If you have applied for 485 recently, you are also eligible for EAD which authorizes you to take up "ANY" job of your choice in the US.
485 iteslf is a separate status called the adjustee or parolee status.
Now to your questions:

Typically to come out clean of the H1 status, one uses their EAD to work. Then the H1 status is invalidated. What on earth makes you legal to work with an expired Visa?
Expired visa stamp. His H1B approval petition with a new I-194 at the bottom provides his work authorization.
To answer your question, since you will need to get a visa stamp in India, it is better to check with the french consulate, as to whether you need one. Typically, the US visa stamp on the passport that has not expired is usually sufficient.

"The cut-off dates are the 1st, 8th, 15th, and 22nd of a month, since VO groups demand
