I was informed that without I-94 card she cannot be added to my insrurance.
Can anyone suggest me some good insurance I can take online/india for this kind of situation...???

I have never seen anyone asking for an I-94 card to get your wife added to your insurance.If you are an employee going through employers insurance then they have to add you and your family to the insurance coverage without any discrimination . That is as far as I know . Maybe I could be wrong but I am pretty sure about it. You can take her insurance without she being here . I recently changed my coverage this month for myself and my family and its start date was the same day I submitted the forms and not the 1st of next month or something like that.

So once she ports her 140 she will have to file new labor and 140 (and since that can take more than 6 months) the worry was that she may not be able to work if H1 extension was not possible. so looks like she can apply her H1 extension at the time of transfer and then go on from there. Big worry off her head!

I am planning on buying a house in 30 days. My company would be paying me about 2500$ rent for renting out a part of my house. This is what made me think that I would actually be able to afford house in NJ.
How would that work out? Does 2500/month become additional taxable income? My mortgage payments would be about 3500/month. If it becomes a taxable income we would be screwed big time as we would cross all limits to low tax brackets :(
Also I am a july 07 filer with PD sept 2006 and would have few years before I can get GC. So would my chances of getting a mortgage like 450k are less as I am not permanent resident?
did you guys specified non resident alien in your mortgage application and did it have any affect on rates?

My wife came last May on H4 visa. I am on EAD and working with different company from Feb 2008. She had Advance Parole but she used H4 as it was simpler.

There was no provision for validating visas in the US, at least not in our Brownback amendment. I am not aware of that being a rider on any other amendment -- but I wouldnt' rule it out
We will have to do a post-final-bill-with-amendments analysis.

I am about to start my GC processing under EB3 category. I know my chances are extremely extremely slim. I am filing for GC hoping that CIR or some other bill to clear GC backlog passes.
My question is .. How much time would it take to clear all the pending GC cases once the bill is passed ?
I am assuming 2 years. Am I correct ?
I read somewhere on the internet that a similar situation arised in the past (may be year 2000 or 2001), and when a bill was passed to clear the backlog, after few months (for bill signing and other paperwork) everyone with I-140 approvals were eligible to apply for I-485.
Is the situation that exists today any different than it was in year 2000 or 2001 ?
Any comments will be greatly appreciated.

All of a sudden since last week there has been an increase.. in these kind of people who "suddenly" pop up ; make their first time posts challenging IV and its mission.
I think the best treatment they deserve is IGNORANCE. we probably shouldnt even reply to such ridiculous posts of people who are not even aware what the CIR contains for us legals..

Hello All
Friend of mine is applying for I 485 . And confused about One perticular question in form. Question is
Have you received public assistance in the United States from any source, including the U.S.Government or any State,county, city, or municipality (other than emergency medical treatment), or are you likely to receive public assistance in the future? YES / NO .
His wife had used Medicaid and WIC for prenetal care when she was on F2 Visa. My Friend was in F1 visa by that time. He took opinion from two different law firm and got totally different response. One firm says Medicaid and WIC are not part of public charge so donot put YES there. Another firm is asking to put YES and explain in seprate sheet. Does any one has same or simillar situation and already filled I 485 or got gc.

To the person who gave me red with the comment "post the valid reason." That was not necessary, you could have just sent me a message.
Anyhow, the reason is that the company I trusted & toiled for past 8 years is down the tubes, after having faced years of lies, deceit & false promises. I know it's all my fault for being so trusting, so now I am trying to forget that pain & treatment & just progress moving forward.
So from what I gather, I can apply for a H1-B now, but it will be only for 1 year? I want to do a "new" H1 instead of a "transfer", since the company finances are a BIG ZERO or -VE, so I have no paystubs to show. And then eventually I want to file new GC with this new company.

I have my receipt number. And I am trying to get a hod of my case folder from th company lawyer.

Is there any way I can check if th H1 was applied for change of status without information from the company lawyer?

The change of status would have been effective in october. You do not need to inform USCIS until september. As a matter for your benefit, avoid it telling to USCIS until september. Check with previous company's lawyer if they applied change in status. The attorney will tell you that. I-94 that comes with H1 status change, and is your property and you can demand that from the company. If they do not cooperate, inform USCIS anyway.

It is easy for International License Holder. You can give your knowledge test first and immediately appear for driver test. If you pass the test they issue a driver license which will be mailed to your address. You will need to provide 2 proof of addresses.
