My check was cashed on 08/31. Based on the receipt numbers on the back of the check, online status shows that receipts were mailed on 08/31, but I haven't received till date. On 10/01, I called customer service and made them create service request. No progress so far. I am planning to call sometime next week and find the status of the service request.
Is anyone in the similar situation of not receiving the receipts even after check has cashed way back.

with the job loss report announced this morning (over 500k lost last month, and 1.9million lost overall) its unlikely this will come through. Too hot button an issue. Even if teh quota is increased, like in 2002/2003 its unlikely it will be filled.

I looked at converting to RIR but there seems to be no point in changing. There is no guarantee that an RIR application will be processed before an TR. Also, they are picking up applications in random order and not FIFO. So, I decided against the conversion.

Hi Gurus,
I want to switch my employer after my I140 gets approved. I may not be able to apply for I485 because of the Retrogression.
I have read somewhere that the priority date can be retained by the beneficiary once I140 is approved. Even though I restart the entire process from LC application, I can still hold the old priority date.
Are there any catches in this rule.
Please advise me.

I needed some advice on this situation I've found myself in.
I have a PERM application filed with my current employer (EB2, Oct 2007). Like most EB2 apps, mine is under a business necessity audit and we have filed an audit response for it. My lawyers are pretty sure that we will clear the audit. Guessing from , the response may be 2-3 months away.
Now I have a second offer from another company. Everything about the job and company is better than my current, but the legal team at this second company says that they will only file in EB3 (even though the job requirement says Bachelors + 8 yrs). They say that they have other EB2 audits going on and have made it a policy to only do EB3 going forward.
I'm on the 5th year of my H1 (don't ask, had a PD of 2005, caught up in BEC and got laid off last May, refiled Oct 07 with the current employer) and this probably will be the last chance for me to change jobs before I cool my heels and wait for the repercussions of the July Fiasco to be over with.
I can't decide on weather to keep my existing EB2 job or take the new offer and step down to EB3.
Please help!

My H1-B expires in Oct-2009. So my wife's H4 visa & I-94 are valid till Oct-2009.
I am applying for my H1 extension. I am attaching my wife's H4, I-94 with the extension.
She may have to go to INDIA in June and come back within a month. As she gets a new I-94 which will be valid for 3-4 months till Oct-2009 & her old I-94 is sent for extension, do i have to do anything else after that?
How does it work? Did anyone went through similar scenario?
Please advice.

Could some one let us know while applying for H1 Extension do we need to provide notarized documents if one has traveled outside US on H1B. Are these documents mandatory ?
Also what's the general processing time for H1 Extension.I mean how many days does it take..

what is mandatory?.....what happens if a person has to move 6 months after they file I-485.....aint they going to change their address??.....can we use AR-11 to do that?....there is no way I can wait for 4 years at my current place to get my green card in hand.....would appreciate any suggestions

I applied for EAD renewal for my spouse. Earlier also i did renewal myself , but online.
This time however i applied manually but forgot to send both front & back of EAD. Instead i just sent front side only. Check was clearly written, photos with A#, Copy of 485 (both sides)
May be a silly question, will it be any issue?

Photos with A# and name in the back (With Pencil/Felt Pen)
Check for 340 Payable to US Department of Homeland Security" (with A#/Name in the memo section) -- Separate checks

We have a wealth of information from A to Z on US Immigration, why dont we ourselves write articles and editorials and get them published in the News Papers, Journals, etc?
Why are we waiting for some one to come to us and take information to write articles on us. Does Newspapers check the background of authors to verify if they are citizens/non-citizens/green card holders/ H1B's. What all matters to them is quality and authenticity of the articles.
Do you folks think this a good option to pursue?
Is anybody stopping you from doing so?

Is it really possible to move back to H1 with a new company from EAD, in case 1> you have approved 140
2> you have not used the entire of 3 year extension that you received b'cos of approved 140,and started using EAD.
I am not sure we can do this.
I ran this past my attorney before I moved to EAD and he believed it was possible. He was not sure if the H1 approval will come with attached I-94 or if I would need to leave the US and return to activate teh H1. However what is certain is that the H1 approval will come through, as I would meet all the requirements. On what basis can they deny the H1?

In that case, your divorce should not affect your I-485. You only need to make sure that you (or your lawyer) withdraw the I-485/EAD/AP for your wife.

Is it OK ?

As the dates become current, I see a lot of people asking the same questions again and again....why can't people do a little search on the forumn before posting repeated questions already asked before ..For eg: Filling i-485 and presence in US or filling without the help of lawyers....
I mean come on guys..we call ourselves highly skilled labours and don't even have the skill to find out answers to common questions by searching the forumns???? I am really begining to doubt the IQ of some cause if not how do u explain it...
